The Connecticut Department of Banking entered into a Consent Order with UNISA Inc., requiring the payment of a $10,000 civil penalty and $1,800 in back licensing fees for operating as an unlicensed student loan servicer. A separate Consent Order with Credit Protection Association, L.P. imposed a $15,000 civil penalty and permanently barred the entity and its successors from acting as a consumer collection agency in Connecticut due to multiple statutory violations. Additionally, an Order to Make Restitution was issued against Students Loan Services LLC, mandating the repayment of fees plus interest to Connecticut debtors who entered into debt negotiation agreements on or after October 1, 2009.
