The Central Bank of Iceland conducted a quarterly lending survey among four commercial banks during April 1-17, 2026, assessing credit supply, demand, lending rules, and interest rates. The results indicate that mortgage loan supply remained unchanged in the past three months, with expectations of a marginal increase in the coming six months as banks resume offering non-indexed variable-rate loans. Corporate credit supply was also unchanged, while household demand for mortgages remained stable and demand for motor vehicle loans declined slightly. Interest rates on non-indexed household and corporate loans rose due to the Central Bank's key interest rate and funding costs, with further increases expected in the next six months.
