CIEX No. 56/2020: Update of the Instruction for the Seizure, Sequestration, and Invalidation of Counterfeit and Double-Series Banknotes and Coins
The Central Bank of Bolivia updates the procedures for Financial Intermediation Entities (FIEs) to immediately report, invalidate, and document counterfeit or double-series banknotes and coins in the presence of the holder. FIEs must submit detailed seizure records to the Public Ministry or FELCC within three business days and provide biweekly statistical reports to the Central Bank. The Public Ministry and FELCC are required to remit non-evidentiary seized items to the Central Bank every three weeks for statistical and laboratory purposes, with the regulation becoming effective on January 15, 2021.
