TO THE BROKERAGE HOUSES:
In response to the request submitted to the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, for brokerage houses to be able to pay debts arising from the use of credit or service cards, on behalf and order of their clients who are shareholders of fixed-income investment societies operated by them, the aforementioned dependency of the Federal Executive has seen fit to issue official document number 102-E-366-DGSV-132 of December 12, 1985, which, insofar as it is relevant, is transcribed below:
"Regarding this matter, this Secretariat, based on the provisions of articles 8 and 22, fractions V, subsection b), and VIII, of the Securities Market Law and considering the opinion of this Commission, has determined to authorize as an activity analogous to those carried out by brokerage houses, the payment service of accounts derived from credit or service cards that their clients who are shareholders of the fixed-income investment society operated by the brokerage house, and who are also cardholders, request, provided that the issuer of said cards is, in turn, a client of the brokerage house.
To this effect, brokerage houses that decide to carry out this activity must notify this Commission, providing it with the information it requests regarding this matter."
Respectfully, Suffrage Effective. No Re-election. Mexico, D.F. on December 3, 1985. The President of the National Securities Commission. Lic. Lorenzo Peón Escalante.
