Circular 11/2015 — Modifications to the Procedure for Acting as Market Makers for Government Securities

The Bank of Mexico modifies the procedure for credit institutions and brokerage houses acting as market makers for government securities, reducing the maximum allowable long net proportional position in BONOS and UDIBONOS issuances from 40% to 35% to qualify for securities lending operations with the central bank. The circular also harmonizes the premium calculation methodology for UDIBONOS market makers with that of standard market makers and updates the UDIBONOS Activity Index calculation to weight traded volume by instrument duration. These changes, based on a directive from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, take effect on September 16, 2015.
