Circular 5/2026 — Issuance of a $20 commemorative coin for the FIFA World Cup 2026, Mexico City
The Bank of Mexico issues a $20 commemorative coin for the FIFA World Cup 2026, designated by key 959, with a dodecagonal shape, 30.0 mm diameter, and bimetallic composition. Credit institutions must deposit this coin separately from circular $20 coins (key 810) and may combine 700-piece bags of the new coin with other dodecagonal $20 coins (key 941) in deposits, provided circular and dodecagonal coins are not mixed. The coin features the National Coat of Arms on the obverse and a soccer player with the Angel of Independence on the reverse, with security elements including latent images and microtext. This circular enters into force on May 13, 2026.
