The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago issued a revised Guideline on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing, effective October 31, 2011. This document applies to all institutions licensed under the Financial Institutions Act 2008, insurance companies and brokers registered under the Insurance Act, and cambios licensed under the Exchange Control Act. Regulated financial institutions are required to implement the new procedures contained in the guideline as soon as possible. Additionally, managing directors and Boards must ensure their external auditors evaluate compliance with all relevant AML/CTF laws and regulations at each financial year end.
