The National Bank of Belgium integrates the European Banking Authority's guidelines into its supervisory practice, requiring investment firm groups designated as sufficiently simple and not posing significant risks to clients and markets to apply for authorization to use the group capitalisation test or hold lower own funds amounts instead of regulatory consolidation. These guidelines, which establish the conditions for such authorizations and the information required for assessment, apply from 1 January 2025. The circular also specifies the conditions for maintaining or withdrawing these authorizations.
