Rule · BCB · 16 Aug 2007 · Circular 3358
Custodians must maintain safe premises with a Federal Police-approved security plan and group types II-VI banknotes in hundreds. They may charge financial institutions for withdrawals, deposits, and exchanges, while accepting type V notes in types III/IV cash up to Copom-defined limits. Prohibitions ban exceeding Copom-specified percentages for type V notes in types III/IV cash or suitable notes in type V cash. Non-compliance triggers irregularities, default interest at the SELIC rate, and late fees of 2% increasing every 30 days up to 20%. Fines must be paid within 30 business days of notification, or values increase. This circular amends Circular 3,298 of November 1, 2005, and its attached Regulation, entering into force upon publication.
