Circular on Publication of New Banking Rule BR/31 on Data Integrity and Reporting Standards

The Malta Financial Services Authority introduces Banking Rule BR/31, which implements EBA Guidelines on the resubmission of historical data to address errors, inaccuracies, and changes in reported information. The Rule requires credit institutions and branches in Malta to correct inaccuracies in historical data, resubmit affected current data, and submit historical data based on minimum frequency requirements and the materiality of errors. The Authority may additionally require resubmissions for dates preceding the minimum frequency or demand explanations for corrections based on its own assessment of data validity. These requirements apply with immediate effect to all licensed credit institutions and branches established in Malta.
