Clarification on monitoring of Interest/Principal repayment and sharing of such information with Credit Rating Agencies by Debenture Trustees

All Debenture Trustees must, at least 7 days before interest/principal due dates, seek ISIN-wise payment status from issuer companies with intimation to CRAs, and report ISIN-wise to CRAs by one day after the due date; if no issuer information is received, they must refer to SEBI and disclose non-availability on their website. They must call for periodical reports within 7 days of the board meeting or 45 days of the quarter, whichever is earlier, issue press releases by the next day of default events, and report compliance in the Half Yearly Report. Non-compliance may attract Section 12A of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 and the SEBI (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices relating to Securities Market) Regulations, 2003.
