Insurance companies, foreign branches, and insurance cooperatives in El Salvador must record repo operations by simultaneously increasing liquidity and financial obligations, transferring collateral to account “1205 Transferred Investments,” and recording premiums as expenses in “4701040 Expenses for securities sold in repo,” deferring them via “1901090 Advance Payments and Deferred Charges – Others” if terms exceed sixty days. Reporting counterparties must decrease liquidity, increase account “130108 Stock Market Operations” by the transacted value plus discount, and register discounts as deferred credits in “290109 Deferred Income – Others.” These Standards replace NCS-007 and enter into force on 15/07/2026, with non-compliance sanctioned under the Law on Supervision and Regulation of the Financial System.
