The Committee of Standards of the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador issued these standards to regulate the accounting valuation of stock market repo operations for Salvadoran insurance companies, foreign branches, and insurance cooperatives. The document mandates specific accounting treatments for reporting parties and counterparties, including simultaneous recording of liquidity changes, financial obligations, and collateral transfers to designated accounts. It establishes rules for deferring premiums and discounts when transaction terms exceed sixty days and requires brokerage commissions to be expensed upon payment. These standards repeal previous 1998 regulations and enter into force on July 15, 2026.
