Directive on Foreign Company to be a sponsor of Mutual Fund

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission directs that any foreign company, whether public or private, is eligible to act as a sponsor of a mutual fund, either independently or jointly with a local eligible sponsor. Each foreign company sponsor must meet the requirements to create a trust under the Trust Act, 1882, though a local sponsor may be appointed for this purpose in joint sponsorship arrangements. No foreign company acting as a sponsor may subscribe to more than 25% of the fund size. This directive takes immediate effect.
