The East African Securities Regulatory Authorities (EASRA) have resolved to develop a harmonized regional regulatory framework for sustainable finance and conduct a study on carbon credit markets to support net-zero goals. The regulators are also drafting a five-year strategic plan aligned with regional and global development visions, while addressing emerging issues such as commodities exchange oversight and SME financing. Additionally, EASRA members committed to strengthening information sharing to mitigate macro-economic risks and expedite the integration of new member jurisdictions into the East African capital markets.
