Extension in the period for holding Annual General Meeting
The Securities and Exchange Commission rules that computer software breakdowns causing data loss do not constitute a valid special reason for extending the deadline to hold Annual General Meetings under Section 158 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. Consequently, requests from listed companies for such extensions on these grounds will no longer be approved. Listed companies are advised to maintain data backup files to ensure timely compilation of annual accounts.
