Namibian Parliament enacted this legislation to consolidate and harmonize the regulatory framework governing financial institutions, intermediaries, and markets. The Act mandates comprehensive registration, administration, and conduct standards for insurers, Lloyd’s representatives, agents, brokers, exchanges, collective investment schemes, retirement funds, friendly societies, and medical aid funds. It empowers the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) with broad supervisory, investigative, and enforcement powers to ensure market stability, prevent trading abuse, and administer a financial services compensation scheme.
