The Financial Institutions and Markets Act, 2021 (FIMA) came into operation on 1 May 2026, requiring all administrators of pension funds, medical aid funds, and friendly societies to register with the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA). Existing administrators are deemed registered under section 369 but must submit formal applications within twelve months of the chapter's commencement. Applications must be submitted electronically via the NAMFISA Electronic Reporting System, with only companies eligible to apply as fund administrators and natural persons or other entities eligible as society administrators. Failure to apply within the prescribed period or continuing business without registration constitutes a contravention of the Act subject to enforcement action.
