Guidelines on IRB Adoption

Singapore-incorporated banks must adopt Basel II approaches commensurate with their complexity and are encouraged to move toward the Internal Ratings-based Approach (IRB). Banks must ensure they can sustain IRB usage before applying for permission, without treating the guidance as an exhaustive checklist. They must complete the Annex 3 survey, signed by heads of risk, finance, and significant business units, and return it to MAS by 31 Jan 05 with Board attention.
