Interest Rate Risk Management – Guideline (2027)

The guideline establishes expectations for the identification, measurement, management, monitoring, and control of interest rate risk in the banking book for federally regulated banks, bank holding companies, trust companies, and loan companies. It requires institutions to implement governance frameworks, define risk appetite in terms of economic value and earnings, and maintain adequate internal controls and independent oversight. Effective dates are November 2026 for institutions with a fiscal year ending October 31 and January 2027 for those ending December 31.
