The Reserve Bank of Australia launched a new community survey in early 2025 to assess public understanding of the economy and perceptions of the Bank. The survey, conducted across three waves with approximately 9,000 respondents, reveals that while inflation is the top economic concern and awareness of the RBA's price stability mandate is high, significant knowledge gaps exist regarding how interest rates affect inflation and the Bank's full employment objective. Public trust in the RBA remains steady at a median score of six out of ten, correlating with higher economic literacy, and the Bank will continue administering the survey every six months to guide future communication strategies.
