The Connecticut Department of Banking approved branch applications for The Milford Bank in Milford and Fairfield County Bank in Ridgefield. Enforcement actions included temporary cease and desist orders, summary suspensions, and notices of intent to revoke licenses for mortgage brokers Peak Financial Services, Inc., Faith Home Loans, Inc., and Blackstone Home Mortgage, Inc., as well as consumer collection agencies Walker Associates, Inc., Admerex Inc., and Titan Management Services, LLC, all for failing to maintain required surety bonds. The Department also revoked the mortgage broker license of Northernstar Mortgage, Inc. and the consumer collection agency licenses of the aforementioned entities, while issuing an amended order against Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp. regarding mortgage loan servicing activities and entering a settlement agreement with Layesh Tala d/b/a Route 66 Check Express for a $3,000 civil penalty for unlicensed check cashing.
