Operationalisation of the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority Act, 2021 and the Financial Institutions and Markets Act, 2021
The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA) and the Minister of Finance have operationalised the NAMFISA Act, 2021 and Financial Institutions and Markets Act, 2021 effective 1 May 2026. These legislations establish a modernised regulatory framework for non-banking financial institutions and markets, supported by newly published regulations and legally effective standards. Transitional arrangements preserve existing subordinate measures unless conflicted, while the pension benefits regulation remains on hold pending consultation and a risk-based supervisory approach guides ongoing implementation.
