Opinion on the application of the provisions relating to disclosures on ESG risks

The European Banking Authority issued this opinion to address legal uncertainties and timing challenges arising from the CRR3 expansion of ESG disclosure requirements and the pending European Commission Omnibus package. To prevent disproportionate compliance burdens and conflicting obligations, the EBA recommends that competent authorities do not prioritize enforcement of specific ESG disclosure templates for large institutions and other entities. This temporary relief applies from the reference date of 30 June 2025 until the amended EBA disclosure implementing technical standards are formally adopted and enter into force.
