OSC proposes amendments to fee rules

The Ontario Securities Commission proposes amendments to its fee rules to reduce fees for most market participants, with approximately 57% of small issuers and registrant firms paying an annual participation fee of $750 or less. The proposal includes a 21% reduction in prospectus filing fees, the introduction of additional fee tiers to collect higher fees from participants whose fees have not increased, and recalibrated fees for crypto-asset trading platforms. Additionally, the OSC proposes indexing participation fee rates and tier thresholds to the Consumer Price Index to maintain proportionality. Stakeholders are invited to provide written comments by July 29, 2026.
