The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency establishes a quantitative framework to rank mutual funds based on historical absolute and risk-adjusted returns relative to peers in similar categories. Rankings are assigned on a one-to-five star scale using a 50/50 weightage for absolute and risk-adjusted returns, covering trailing periods of 12, 36, and 60 months. Funds must be operational for at least one year to be eligible, and new categories require a minimum of three funds to be established. The agency releases these rankings twice annually, in July and January, to provide investors with an initial screening criterion.
