Prudential requirements for non-bank deposit takers

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand regulates non-bank deposit takers under the Non-bank Deposit Takers Act 2013 to maintain a sound financial system. Licensed entities must comply with six prudential areas: credit ratings, governance, risk management, capital, related party exposure limits, and liquidity. Specific requirements include maintaining minimum capital ratios, appointing independent directors, and obtaining regulatory approval for significant ownership changes.
