PSD Circular Letter No. 09: Continuation of Uninterrupted Banking and Payment Services in Response to COVID-19
The Payment Systems Department of Bangladesh Bank extends the operating hours for interbank payment platforms, including the Bangladesh Interbank Electronic Fund Transfer (BIEFT) and Bangladesh Clearing House Automated Clearing House (BCHACH), for specific dates in July 2021 to ensure uninterrupted banking services during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday. The circular specifies distinct transaction windows for BIEFT and BCHACH on July 15, 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2021, and from July 25, 2021, until further notice, with extended hours for customs-related payments. Additionally, it mandates that only bank branches in areas listed in DOS Circular Letter No. 29 will process checks, EFTs, and RTGS for the ready-made garment sector and its workers, requiring branches outside these areas to return deposited checks.
