Public Notice: Counterfeit $100 Pa’anga Banknotes in Circulation
The National Reserve Bank of Tonga has identified counterfeit $100 paʻanga banknotes from the 2023 series currently in circulation. These counterfeit notes lack genuine security features, including the King Tupou VI watermark, the embedded Nexus security thread, UV fluorescent markings, and correct dimensions. The public is urged to verify banknotes during cash transactions, particularly during the festive period, and to report any suspected counterfeit currency to the Bank or police immediately.
