Real estate designated services

Real estate agents, property developers selling new subdivisions without independent brokers, and lawyers or conveyancers facilitating real estate transactions with a geographical link to Australia must comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006. These entities must enrol with the regulator and complete customer due diligence before providing designated services, which include brokering sales, purchases, or transfers of interests such as leases of 30 years or less, easements, and mortgagee interests. Initial customer due diligence may be delayed if it disrupts the ordinary course of business.
