Regulations Governing the Issuance of Gold and Silver Coins and Commemorative Notes and Coins

The Central Bank of China determines the theme, denomination, composition, form, and design of gold and silver coins and commemorative notes and coins, subject to approval by the Executive Yuan. These items are issued on a non-periodic basis in fixed quantities, with legal tender values limited to their denominations while allowing sales at higher prices. State-owned financial institutions may be entrusted with distribution, and a special account handles related financial matters, with surpluses listed as special surplus and shortfalls covered by it.
