Regulations Governing the Issuance of Gold and Silver Coins and Commemorative Notes and Coins
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) determines the theme, denomination, composition, form, and design of gold and silver coins and commemorative notes and coins, subject to approval by the Executive Yuan. Themes are restricted to important national ceremonies or holidays, major international events hosted by the country, or other events of special significance for the country. These items are issued on a non-periodic basis in fixed quantities, with legal tender values limited to their denominations while allowing sales at higher prices. State-owned financial institutions may be entrusted with distribution, and a special account handles related matters with surpluses listed as special reserve and shortfalls covered from that reserve.
