The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia approves a new Open Market Operations Regulation effective May 15, 2001, which supersedes the previous regulation from 1998. The new rules establish the Open Market Operations Committee (COMA) to define weekly operational parameters and grant the Monetary Operations Management (GOM) autonomous execution powers within approved ranges. The regulation details operational mechanisms including public auctions and money desk transactions, sets participation requirements for financial entities, and caps individual bid amounts at US$ 1,000,000 for foreign currency and Bs. 1,000,000 for national currency titles.
