Resolution 061/2002: Creation of the Extended Foreign Currency Deposit Service at the BCB

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia establishes the Extended Foreign Currency Deposit Service (SED-ME) to strengthen international reserves, effective July 1, 2002. The service allows banks to deposit up to USD 250 million for terms of up to 56 days, with funds required to originate from abroad. These deposits cannot be used to meet legal reserve requirements but may serve as collateral for loans up to 100% of the deposited value. The Monetary and Financial Operations Committee (COMA) is authorized to set specific deposit amounts, terms, redemption conditions, and applicable interest rates for these facilities.
