The regulations impose an obligation on legal persons, physical persons, authorities, branches, and international organizations with foreign addresses to provide specific data to the Riksbank upon request for balance of payments and international investment position statistics. Reporting requirements cover transactions with foreign counterparties, services, transfers, factor income, direct investments, financial instruments, travel currency trade, and credit card usage, with monthly and quarterly data due by the 15th of the following month. The regulations entered into force on January 1, 2003, and simultaneously repealed the Riksbank's Regulations (1997:4) regarding balance of payments statistics.
