These regulations amend the 2007 Certification Regulations by substituting the term "associated person" with "specified person" across most provisions, while retaining the original term in the proviso to regulation 3(1). The definition of "specified person" is expanded to include employees of foreign portfolio and venture capital investors working in India, and new certification pathways are introduced via National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) courses. The regulations update the validity and extension rules for certificates, referencing the Companies Act, 2013, and amend related regulations concerning Debenture Trustees and Self Regulatory Organizations to align terminology.
