State Banking Board: Authority to offer tax preparation services, payroll services, and bookkeeping services
The North Dakota State Banking Board issued an order on November 13, 2008, granting state-chartered banks the authority to provide tax preparation, payroll, and bookkeeping services. This authorization permits banks to assist customers with tax returns for a fee while prohibiting expert tax consulting, disburse payroll funds electronically or directly to employees, and provide accounting services. The decision was made pursuant to N.D.C.C. § 6-03-02.3 following a request from Bank Forward in Hannaford, North Dakota.
