Stephan Katmarian sentenced to jail for securities fraud
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice sentenced Stephan Katmarian to six months in jail and 18 months of probation for securities fraud under section 126.1 of the Securities Act. The conviction resulted from an appeal by the Ontario Securities Commission regarding Peblik Inc.'s sale of convertible notes backed by false claims about a real-world asset. Katmarian, who was previously acquitted in March 2024, is currently appealing the conviction at the Court of Appeal.
