Treatment of Primary Subscription of National Public Securities in Pesos with Maturity of 5 Years or More and Fixed Rate Issued from June 1, 2007

Other financial entities and foreign banks with international rating "A" or higher must account for primary subscriptions of national public peso securities issued from 1.6.07, maturing in five years or more at fixed rates, either at market value or via a regularization account when market value is lower than book value. This account is derecognized as balances exceed the positive difference between values and adjusted upon amortization. Entities may impute these positions to the margin for buy-sell operations without observing the 15% limit, provided they do not increase risk fragmentation excesses. The extended 180-day application period ends on 30.6.09, after which holdings are recorded at market value.
