Valuation of money market and debt securities

Mutual Funds, AMCs, Trustee Companies, and AMFI must value money market and debt securities using security-level prices from valuation agencies, with short-term instruments valued at amortized price if within ±0.025% of reference price. AMCs must implement a documented waterfall approach, maintain audit trails for polling, and disclose NAVs by 11:00 p.m. Deviations from agency prices require Board justification and immediate website disclosure. Terms like “NPA” are replaced with “below investment grade or default.” These rules replace prior SEBI circulars, with most provisions effective immediately and specific paragraphs within 90 days.
