Asset Classification and Minimum Provision Requirements - Prudential Guideline No. 2

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands issued Prudential Guideline No. 2 to establish uniform standards for financial institutions regarding the classification of assets and the maintenance of minimum loan loss provisions. The guideline mandates that all licensed institutions implement regular loan reviews, strictly define non-performing and restructured loans, and assign specific regulatory grades based on delinquency periods and collateral adequacy. Furthermore, it requires institutions to maintain adequate provisions for loan losses, detailing specific write-off procedures and provisioning percentages for different asset categories to ensure accurate financial reporting.
