2025-11-27 | CMD/DIR/PUB/CIR/001/003The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a directive to all banks, payment service banks, and other financial institutions regarding compliance with regulatory provisions on advertising. The CBN's review of advertising practices revealed inconsistencies in how institutions apply disclosure, transparency, and fair-marketing requirements. Institutions are required to immediately withdraw non-compliant advertisements and submit a compliance attestation within 30 days, signed by key executives, confirming adherence to applicable laws and regulations. The CBN will conduct a follow-up review in January 2026 and apply sanctions for breaches.
