Regulation on Opening and Closing Bank Branch Offices and Subsidiaries Inside and Outside Kosovo

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo issued this regulation to standardize procedures for banks opening, relocating, or closing domestic branches and establishing foreign subsidiaries. Licensed institutions must submit written applications with specific documentation, triggering a mandatory thirty-day CBK approval window for both domestic and international expansions. The rules further require sixty-day advance notices for branch closures, mandate customer and media announcements, and grant the regulator authority to temporarily prohibit closings that negatively impact community banking access.
