The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) promulgated the Exchange Traded Derivatives Rules, 2019, effective May 22, 2019, to regulate the trading of exchange-traded derivatives. The rules define key terms such as 'exchange-traded derivative' and 'clearing corporation', and mandate that all such derivatives be traded only on recognized stock exchanges. They establish operational frameworks for clearing corporations, including the requirement to establish a clearing fund and a risk management system, and impose specific obligations on clearing members and trading members regarding margin requirements, settlement, and compliance.
