Chapter Seven: Working Hours

1. Public Service Hours

Working hours during the regular weekly working days are from 8:30 AM until 2:00 PM, except during the month of Ramadan, where hours are from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM.

2. Weekly Holiday

1. Friday and Saturday.

3. Banking Service Hours at All Banks Operating in Egypt

Given the importance of unifying banking service hours at all banks operating in Egypt, the Central Bank of Egypt has decided the following:

(a) The working hours for bank branches are extended until 5:00 PM during official working days for the Central Bank, regardless of the number of employees (from Sunday to Thursday) and their working hours, provided that banks notify the Central Bank of this.

(b) Regarding branches located inside shopping malls (Malls), their working hours are at the discretion of each bank from 10:00 AM until 11:00 PM to provide all banking services on all weekly days, including Friday and Saturday, with prior notification to the Central Bank. As for branches located in shopping malls (Malls) that have an entrance from the street to deal with the public, they operate until 5:00 PM during official working days (from Sunday to Thursday).

(c) Regarding branches located inside sports and social clubs, their working hours are until 8:00 PM to provide all banking services on all weekly days, including Friday and Saturday, to deal with club visitors. As for branches located in clubs that have an entrance from the street to deal with the public, they operate until 5:00 PM during official working days (from Sunday to Thursday). Staff replacement after that is from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in case the bank has staff. As for branches located in clubs that have an entrance from the street to deal with the public, they operate until 5:00 PM during official working days (from Sunday to Thursday). Staff replacement after that is according to the stipulated hours.

(d) Regarding branches located inside residential compounds (Compounds Residential), working hours and days are at the discretion of the bank until 7:00 PM, provided that there are full security elements to prevent branches from having no presence outside the compounds, in accordance with the instructions previously issued by the Central Bank of Egypt dated 15 September 2009.
