OF THE NATIONAL FINANCIAL SYSTEM
(COSIF) - UPDATE
We communicate that the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Brazil, in a meeting held on 04.10.89, based on Article 4, item XII, of Law No. 4.595, of 31.12.64, by competence delegated by the National Monetary Council, decided, regarding the Accounting Plan of the Institutions of the National Financial System (COSIF), to establish the following.

Subgroups, titles, and subtitles listed in Annex I are created, excluding the titles and subtitles related in Annex II, and Scheme No. 6 - Interbank Deposits and Scheme No. 36 - Result Determination are updated.

The denomination of the subtitles "Official Resources" and "Other Resources" of the account BENEFICIARIES OF GUARANTEES PROVIDED is changed to "Official Bodies and Institutions" and "Other Entities", maintaining the same codes 3.0.1.30.10-8 and 3.0.1.30.90-2, respectively, including for the purposes of item 3 of Circular-Letter No. 1,916, of 19.04.89, with respect to the subtitle mentioned therein.

The Department of Capital Market Norms (DENOC) and the Department of Bank Organization and Authorizations (DEORB) will disseminate, from this date, the updates of the COSIF, resulting from changes in the legislation and regulation applicable to the Institutions of the National Financial System.

This Circular will enter into force on 01.11.89, with Circular No. 1,187, of 15.06.87, and items 1.4.2.3.c.II and 1.20.1.9 of the COSIF being revoked.

Consequently, attached are the necessary sheets for the update of the Accounting Plan of the Institutions of the National Financial System (COSIF) and the document "Foreign Exchange Portfolio - Accounting Norms - COCAM".
