The European Commission amends Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1222/2014 to align the identification of global systemically important institutions (G-SIIs) with the revised Basel Committee on Banking Supervision methodology. The amendments introduce a trading volume indicator, include insurance activities in the measurement approach, and establish an additional overall score for cross-border activities excluding the Single Resolution Mechanism. Competent authorities are required to calculate scores by 1 September annually and may reallocate a G-SII to a lower subcategory by a maximum of one level based on this additional score. These provisions apply from 1 December 2021, with data collection starting in the first quarter of 2022.
