Consent Order Regarding BitPay, Inc.
BitPay, Inc. must cease and desist from engaging in money transmission in Connecticut until licensed and pay a $40,000 civil penalty and $7,875 in back licensing fees. The order resolves allegations that BitPay operated without a license since at least 2016, with the state waiving further enforcement action provided BitPay complies with the terms. BitPay also agrees to disclose the order on NMLS and refrain from denying the underlying allegations in public statements or regulatory filings.
