Collective Investment Schemes Act (Cap. 65)

Passed by Uganda’s Parliament and administered by the Capital Markets Authority, this Act establishes a comprehensive licensing framework for collective investment schemes, defining licensed operators, trustees, depositaries, and scheme structures while restricting unlicensed activities. The legislation mandates strict disclosure requirements and creates a dedicated compensation scheme, while empowering the Authority to approve, suspend, or revoke licenses. It further outlines High Court jurisdiction to enforce compliance and authorize intervention measures such as injunctions and restitution orders.
