FEID Circular No. 02: Investment by non-resident investors in Alternative Investment Funds under BSEC (Alternative Investment) Rules, 2015

Authorized Dealers of Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh are instructed to allow eligible non-resident investors to invest in units of Alternative Investment Funds registered with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. Transactions must be conducted through Non-resident Investor’s Taka Accounts or inward remittances via normal banking channels, with the Foreign Exchange Investment Department notified within 14 days of any issuance, transfer, or redemption. Dividends may be remitted abroad or credited to specified accounts after applicable deductions, while sale proceeds require prior Bangladesh Bank approval and a valuation report from a licensed Merchant Banker or Chartered Accountant alongside a Trustee recommendation.
